Crashes sure. Those will tend to kill the carbon wheels. Not so sure there are a lot of incidents of improper tire mounting damaging the wheels. I mean a good shop will already know what they are doing as carbon wheels have been a thing for a long time now so these shops had better know how to mount tires on them. Alas, there are a lot of smoothbrains in moto shops these days what with the downturn in general intelligence, common sense, and competency so it’s up to the owner to go to a qualified shop so that their carbon wheels don’t get messed up.

Too many broken carbon wheels from small crashes or even tire mounting. Hence why the allow the aluminum wheels and optional.
