Its too big a motor for a lot of the developing market, and it would be priced too high for too small of a motor for western markets, once you throw on all the electronic gizmo’s that the money spending majority demand, whether they need it or not. Westerners love big bikes. Part of it is the wide open very fast road network, and part of it is willy waving. While no one is buying the KTM 390 adv, the ‘middleweight’ adv KTM is creeping from 790 to 890 to a rumored 990.

Not trying to open the ‘you don’t need a big ADV debate’ because I have one and thoroughly believe it is right for my needs…. but, our ADV touring group is a varied bunch, most with 1200cc+ ADV’s but 2 of the guys run the T7’s… and they have no issues with the pace or distance, other than more frequent fill ups.

I agree the 890 is really getting too big to be called mid size anymore.

My bet is $10.5k like the Tuono 660 and $11k with a quick shifter. I think this is going to be another fantastic value proposition.

The question is, would it be safe to buy with the closest dealer being 5 1/2 hours away…..
