I’m sure the designers have done their homework and know what they’re doing.
Sadly, my non-sophisticated brain can’t appreciate the bodywork and especially headlight on this bike. Being 57 and starting out during the 80’s might have something to do with it.
I do like some modern bikes though. Aprilia RS660 for example. So, maybe it’s not just me.

Twin chrome headlamp Triumphs Street & Speed Triples look like design masterpieces, compared with contemporary naked bike designs.
At the time I was unsure about them, I’m not changing my mind on the wilfully ugly bikes being knocked out currently.

I have to thank bmw for saving a lot of $ on our household. Wife has a 17′ model blinged to an inch of its life and I was worried that when the new one came out there was going to be an immediate display of panties thrown and credit card statement to become depressing… Problem solved. Ps: don’t know how much the bmw designer for that headlight is being paid, but I bet the gentleman that stopped working full-time for mv won’t be much dearer…

Not ugly, but not pretty either…. pretty-ugly, perhaps
Points for style for the carbon foot peg heel guards and the nice machined/black anodised details.

That instrument cluster is the biggest afterthought yet, just as bad as those “iPads” they tack on cars and trucks dashes nowadays to control the radio and other functions.

Exhausts are getting bigger and more unsightly
Perhaps a opportunity exists to incorporate the exhaust into the swingarm or maybe fairing? – as a double layered panel – as in the new aprilia rs660- uses aero to move heat away from the rider

Somethings gotta be done
But in 5 years won’t matter, should have viable electric alternatives by then

is it the shiftcam engine from the s1000rr engine? Or simply the engine from the ‘new’ S1000xr, in streetfighter styling? In any case, having owned a previous gen s1000r, and spent a week on the new XR, i’d go XR all day long. Feels just as physically small as the single R, but way less cramped ergonomically speaking. Now if shiftcam is present, that changes things a bit.

I really love the looks of the F900R and I think that they adopt the design cue to this latest S1000R, especially the headlight. but somehow it looks a lil’bit weird.
it’s not bad but it feels just…out of place.
they missed the oportunity to make a beautiful bike like they successfully did with the S1KRR.

In reply to hunkyleepickle. Nah, I think she got the same cold shoulder treatment as the new MS V4, no fancy VVT for you, Peasant ! I would love to see the use of VVT applied widely on Motorcycles, I know they need it, BADLY. It does wonders for engine "manners" and to clean emissions "in cylinder".
