Yeah, a better Ducati analogue for the SDGT would be if they took the Streetfighter V4S and tacked on hard bags, a windscreen, and a bigger fuel tank.

Which . . . now that I’ve described it, sounds utterly fantastic.

Me thinks they are not issuing a 2022 GT on the new V.3 Superduke platform though. Or at all–basically. I’m on a GT now and maybe this rides two small people a bit better? they are comparable but also different. 17″ wheel. Power (but not torque–will I miss the GT sledgehammer motor but love the V4 for other reason?). Seat height same.

Agreed, Pikes Peak doesn’t deserve the free advertising.

I test rode a 2017 XR and the vibes were unacceptable. It would be a little over the top to compare it with a jackhammer but not by much. 🀣

Unfortunately, its also a whoooole lot more $$$. Even as a late model GS owner, these top ADV bikes are becoming unobtainium priced playthings.

I’m only looking. No touching. Honda is perfect for everyday. There’s already a Ducati and Aprilia in the garage for when I have urges. The truth is I just want all the bikes. All of them.

No doubt that it is blisteringly fast, with excellent fit and finish, complete with all the latest tech, and dripping with carbon fiber. It isn’t tingling the fizzy bits like I thought it would. Maybe it’s the design, maybe it’s the overall aesthetic, or maybe it’s the over $30k price tag (and that’s before I add the requisite hard bags)? With a 2012 Pikes Peak in the garage with all right naughty bits on it, a $20k leap to this bike seems like way too much.

Maybe I need to see in person and throw a leg over it?

I’d agree with you, but the “regular” Multi V4s class rival is actually the 1250GS now. It’s only this Pikes Peak flavour of the Multistrada V4 that’s supposed to compete with the XR. And while the Ducati is clearly the better motorcycle of the two, BMW positioned their offering very aggressively price-wise which should allow them to have a much broader base of potential customers.

Only Ducati has sold far more Multistradas than BMW has sold XRs.

I just want the Supersport with the 1260 motor and hard bags that mount as cleanly as the Z1000SX’s. Is that so much to ask?
